As many as 60% of women in India face trouble accessing healthcare for themselves, the findings of the fifth round of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) revealed. Inadequate infrastructure and insufficient health personnel emerged as the leading problem keeping women from accessing medical care.
Swabhiman project aims to fill this gap by providing free of cost specialized healthcare services to girls & women in rural areas. Implemented in selected villages of Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and Tapukara, Rajasthan, the program empowers women and girls by raising awareness on health and hygiene, safe motherhood, child health, family planning etc.
As a part of the project, we develop 'Change Agents' in the community for the project's sustainability. These are women and girls who have been trained to spread the message of health and well-being among their peers and families.
